Daniil Trifonov
GRAMMY Award-winning pianist Daniil Trifonov has rapidly attained massive recognition in the classical music world as a solo artist, champion of the concerto repertoire, chamber and vocal collaborator, and composer. His consummate technique combined with exquisite sensitivity and depth have turned his performances into perpetual sources of awe. “He has everything and more… tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” marvelled Martha Argerich. With Transcendental, a collection of music by Franz Liszt marking his third title as an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, Trifonov won the GRAMMY Award in the category Best Instrumental Solo Album. As The Times of London has noted, he is “without question the most astounding pianist of our age.” Born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1991, Trifonov began his musical training at the age of five and went on to attend the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow before pursuing further piano studies with Sergei Babayan.
